Podwilk was founded at the end of the 16th century by the Šoltys Feliks Wilczek and the village was part of the Orava estate. In 1767, today's stone church of St. Martin was built here, which is considered the first brick sanctuary in Polish Orava.

What will you see?

The building belongs to the provincial baroque of Upper Hungary. Above the entrance stands a stone statue of St. Martin. Inside, a polychrome stucco relief from 1767 with St. Wendelín, the patron saint of shepherds, is impressive. The main altar from the Tyrolean workshop shows St. Martin on horseback and on the sides the holy Hungarian kings Stephen and Ladislaus. The rococo pulpit and bell from 1702 have also been preserved.
