Jakub Turác: Common Ground
Jakub Turác: Common Ground is another project by Slovak drummer Jakub Turác. It is an international jazz quartet composed of members from Poland, Japan, and Slovakia.
The very name of the project reflects the idea behind its creation: searching for a common space beyond borders – the space that is music. The combination of different experiences, temperaments and cultures creates a fresh, unconventional and unique sound. A distinctive element is the leading role of the vibraphone, which gives our compositions a unique tone and character.
The group consists of:
Jakub Turác (SK) – Slovak drummer, percussionist and composer, who is profiled as a prominent figure of the upcoming generation of the Slovak jazz scene, a graduate of the JL Bellu Conservatory in Banská Bystrica and a student of the Musik und Künst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien, active on the Slovak and international scene.
Marta Jaroszyńska (PL) – Polish pianist and composer, master's student at the Jazz Academy in Katowice.
Jakub Kołodziejczyk (PL) – Polish vibraphonist and composer, graduate of the jazz department in Katowice, active on the Polish and European scene.
