Gallery of Maria Medvecka
Painter Mária Medvecká (1914–1987) studied in Bratislava, Vienna and Prague, but connected her artistic life with her native Orava. Her work is today represented by a branch of the Orava Gallery in a 19th-century classicist mansion in the Medvedzie district of Tvrdošín, where a permanent exhibition has been open since 1979.
What will you see?
- over 250 oil paintings and drawings from the author's entire creative period
- the Orava landscape, villages and portraits of local people in its typical realistic presentation
- Interesting fact: Medvecká also designed the motif of the Czechoslovak ten-crown note (1961 – 1988)
- short-term exhibitions of contemporary art in the attic of the manor house
