Juráň Valley
Juráňova dolina is a national nature reserve in the Tatra National Park, just a short distance from Oravík. The Biela voda stream has cut a narrow gorge between steep limestone-dolomite walls, and a hiking trail leads directly above the water on wooden footbridges and bridges.
What will you see?
- a rocky gorge with vertical walls that in places almost meet overhead
- giant pots carved by water and smaller waterfalls
- a dwarf tree growing at an unusually low altitude
- educational trail with 7 information panels about geology, fauna and flora
Good to know
- Even children can handle the crossing of the gorge; the entire circuit of the nature trail (red and blue marks) is about 8 km long, has 170 m of elevation gain, and takes approximately 3 hours.
- The starting point is in Oravice at the tourist crossroads, where there is also a parking lot and a bus stop.
- The circuit through the Umrlá saddle is closed out of season (November - April), but you can still walk into the gorge then.
- An ideal combination with swimming in the thermal pools in Oravice.
- You are walking in a national park - stay off the trail and take your trash with you.
