Brestovská Cave in Zuberec is the first cave in Orava and the Western Tatras that the Slovak Caves Administration opened to the public. It is part of an extensive underground hydrological system - a stream with several siphons still flows at its bottom. The entrance is located just a few steps from the Orava Village Museum.

What will you see?

  • narrow, indented corridors shaped by groundwater
  • riverbed with active water flow
  • remarkable shapes of the spaces and rare cave fauna, including bats

Good to know

  • The tour lasts about 50 minutes, the circuit is 434 m and there are approximately 240 steps.
  • The temperature in the cave is 4-6°C, so bring warm clothes and sturdy shoes even in summer.
  • The capacity is small (15 people per entry), so it is better to book the date in advance.
  • Children under 6 years of age are not allowed, children under 10 years of age only when accompanied by an adult.
  • You can park at the open-air museum. It is worth combining your visit with the Orava Village Museum.
