Observation tower on Modlový vrch – Novoť
Modlový vrch (915 m above sea level) above the village of Novoť once had strategic importance - there was a military observation post here, which was dismantled in 1956. Today, in its place you can find a wooden observation tower with a rest area.
What will you see?
The tower offers one of the widest views in Upper Orava. To the north, Babia hora and Pilsko rise, to the east, Roháče, to the south, the Chočské vrchy with Veľký Choč, and to the southwest, the silhouettes of Malý and Veľký Rozsutec in Malá Fatra.
How to get there
The most convenient access is from the local district of Barutová. An asphalt road leads to the top, which only turns into gravel at the end, so you can make the trip on foot, by bike or by car.
Good to know
- Admission is free and the tower is accessible 24/7.
- There are no toilets or refreshments at the tower.
- After rain, we recommend sturdy shoes.
- On Modlovy vrch you have an open horizon - an ideal place to watch the sunset.
