Trchovnica Lookout Tower – Oravská Polhora
On the edge of Oravská Polhora, along the road towards the Slaná voda recreation area, stands a 16-meter-high wooden lookout tower on a stone foundation. It is one of the most easily accessible lookout towers in Upper Orava – you can climb it even with small children or a stroller and be up in a few minutes.
What will you see?
From the observation deck, a panorama of the Orava Beskids opens up, with the dominant Baba Hora and Pilsko to the north. To the southeast, Roháče can be seen in good visibility, to the south, the surface of the Orava Dam, and in clear air, the distant peaks of the High Tatras.
How to get there
In the center of the village, near the COOP Jednota store, turn towards the kindergarten and continue along the asphalt road following the red tourist sign towards Slaná voda. The lookout tower is about 0.8 km away, the walk takes about a quarter of an hour and the route is easy.
Good to know
- Admission is free and the tower is accessible year-round.
- The lookout tower is located on the route to Slana Voda, from where the nature trail to Babia Hora continues - an ideal connection to Hviezdoslavova hájovňa.
- Wooden stairs lead to the top; with a stroller you can only reach the foot of the tower.
- The most beautiful views are on clear autumn and winter days.
