Tonka – Zuberec Observation Tower
Since 2023, Zuberec has had a new dominant feature – the slender steel Tonka observation tower on the slope of Kýčera Hill. At 25 meters high, it is one of the highest observation towers in Orava, and yet it is just a stone's throw from the village center.
What will you see?
After climbing 118 steps, you will find yourself above the treetops with a panoramic view. Below you lies the entire Zuberec, to the southeast rise the peaks of Roháče and the West Tatras, and to the north and west the rolling Orava Highlands with the Skorušinské Hills.
How to get there
From the center of Zuberec, a gravel road leads to the tower, a 15 to 20-minute walk. Alternatively, you can climb the Way of the Cross above the village. The tower cannot be reached by car - only on foot or by bicycle.
