Zakamenne Lookout Tower
A 15-meter-high wooden observation tower rises above Zákamenný, one of the largest villages in Orava. It was built in 2017 as part of a Slovak-Polish cross-border cooperation project.
What will you see?
From the highest of the four floors you will see the ridge of the Oravské Beskids with Baba Hora and Pilsko to the north, the forested Oravská Magura to the south and, if visibility is good, the peaks of the Western Tatras. Below the tower lies the valley of the White Orava.
How to get there
The climb starts at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the center of the village. From there, follow the green hiking trail through the meadows - it is about 2 km to the tower and the climb takes about 45 minutes. You can park at the church or at the cemetery.
Good to know
- Entrance to the tower is free throughout the year.
- The path leads through open meadows - in summer, take a hat and water, and after rain, sturdy shoes.
- There are no services or refreshments at the tower.
- The trip can be combined with the lookout tower on Modlovy vrch in Novot.
